The Southern Sports Academy is an incorporated, autonomous community based organisation established in 1992 to identify and prepare talented sports people in the Southern NSW region to reach their maximum potential, on and off the field.
New Athlete with a Disability and Individual Athlete Programs are now accepting applications The Southern Sports Academy will introduce two new initiatives to its portfolio of Sporting Development Programs for the 2012 scholarship period. The two new programs are an Athletes With a Disability Program (AWD) as well as an Individual Athlete Program (IAP).

The Athlete With a Disability Program and Individual Athlete Program will involve up to five athletes each year. The focus of each program is to provide each scholarship holder with funding ($750 per athlete) and support services which will assist the athlete in reaching their full potential. As well as the funding, each athlete will participate in workshops focussing on Sports Psychology, Strength and Conditioning and Nutrition, Recovery and Core Strength. Additionally, they will be involved in the various personal development initiatives that the Southern Sports Academy provides for its athletes each year.

Netball and Hockey Development Camps are Back! The Netball and Hockey camps are on again during the April school holidays.
The Netball camp for 8-11 year olds will be held on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th April while the 12-15 year olds will be on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th April. The Camp will again be held at the Equex Centre, Wagg Wagga.
The Hockey camp for 9-15 year olds will be held on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th April at Jubilee Park, Wagga Wagga.

Become a member of the Academy and support local athletes
The Academy is an autonomous non-profit organisation and relies financially on the support and assistance received by sponsors and supporters. The Academy is controlled by a Board of Directors, consisting of (6) six Academy members. Director positions are filled by willing Academy members, who are voted in at the Annual General Meeting (for a term of two years). Please note that all members have the right to vote at the Annual General Meeting. This year's Southern Sports Academy Annual General Meeting is to be held on Thursday 10th May 2012 commencing at 12.00noon at the Academy’s office at the Bolton Park Tennis Centre. If you would like to support the Academy by registering as a member please complete the attached form and send it with your fee by Thursday 19th April 2012 to: The Academy appreciates the input of those members who dedicate the time and possess the commitment to assist in providing our regional athletes with the best development programs in regional New South Wales.
