What Does The Southern Sports Academy Do?
Southern Sports Academy athletes come together at least once a month to receive the best and most professional coaching available in the area. Our coaching staff are passionate about working with and developing talented young athletes from the area and want to have a role to play in producing elite level Lawn Bowlers from the Southern NSW region.

We also compliment the skill and technique based coaching with Sports Medicine workshops covering issues such as Nutrition and Hydration for Elite Athletes, Recovery Strategies including Massage (Self), Yoga and Meditation as well as Sports Psychology and Exercise Physiology principles. We also expose athletes to appropriate strength and conditioning advice which is specific to the sport they play.

The Southern Sports Academy also understands that there is great deal more to being an outstanding athlete than what happens solely on the sporting field. To this end, the Academy provides professional tuition for its athletes on issues such as Leadership Skills, Goal Setting, Career Education, Expectations and Obligations of the Professional Athlete, Media Skills, Attracting and Keeping Sponsors, Time Management and Effective Study Skills.

The inaugural Lawn Bowls Program is an 11 month program commencing in December 2008 and concluding in October 2009.

All this adds up to the Southern Sports Academy leading the way in the development of junior athletes in NSW.

Selection Trials
The Southern Sports Academy is holding selection trials for athletes wishing to gain a Lawn Bowls Scholarship in the 2009 intake.

From the trial up to 12 athletes will be offered a Rules Club Lawn Bowls Scholarship.

Scholarships are not in the form of a monetary sum, but enable the athlete to participate in Academy Training and development based workshops at a greatly subsidised rate.
